St Charles County, MO - The St. Charles County Parks Department has announced registrations are now being accepted for the Third Annual Paint Your County Parks event held from September 30 to October 28. Artists in the competition will showcase their Open Air painting skills by detailing the beautiful landscapes and scenes from any of the St. Charles County parks that are open to the public: Hideaway Harbor Park in Portage des Sioux; Klondike Park in Augusta; Matson Hill Park in Matson; Quail Ridge Park in Wentzville; and the Youth Activity Park in Dardenne Prairie.

Participants may enter in any of three categories (Oil & Acrylic, Watercolor, and Mixed Media), with winners receiving cash prizes for first ($200), second ($100), and third ($50) place in each category. In addition, one artist will be declared Best in Show and receive a $300 bonus award. Judging will take place at an Awards Reception and Art Sale to be held on October 28 in the Quail Ridge Lodge.

To enter the 2006 Paint Your County Parks competition, participants should contact the St. Charles County Parks Department at (636) 949-7535. Space is limited to 30 participants, and advanced registration is required for this event. More information will be provided to participants at an informational meeting, scheduled at 8:30 a.m., on September 30 in the Large-Group Picnic Area at Quail Ridge Park.
