St Peters, MO - The St. Charles County Council will host a forum, at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1 at St. Peters City Hall, to discuss the use of eminent domain in St. Charles County. The Council is studying the issue to determine the need for a charter amendment that would further regulate the use of eminent domain throughout St. Charles County.
At the August 1 meeting, a panel will hear public comment, answer questions and provide information on:
· the historical perspective of eminent domain
· case studies and comparisons of past uses
· public benefit and public perception
· eminent domain and future economic development
The panel includes St. Charles County Council members Doug Funderburk and Cheryl Hibbeler who are leading the Council’s analysis, Keith Hazelwood (Hazelwood and Weber LLC), Richard Ward (Development Strategies), Tom Cunningham (Cunningham, Vogel & Rost PC) and Bob Swank (City of Wentzville, MO).
