St Louis, MO - Mayor Francis G. Slay will join Alderman Stephen Conway, Kim Hibbs of Hibbs Homes LLC, and John Williams of St. Margaret Housing Corporation on Thursday, May 18 at 10 a.m. for the groundbreaking of The first new home construction in historic Shaw neighborhood since 1972.

Selected by the City of St. Louis, Hibbs Homes will build the first new single-family homes in the Shaw neighborhood in more than three decades. Hibbs Homes was chosen based on the new homes' designs, which maintain the area's architecture and history.

The event additionally symbolizes a growing real estate trend called infill development where builders construct new homes in older, historic neighborhoods. The event will be held on an active construction site--excavators present--with formal groundbreaking led by Mayor Slay.

The event will be at the New Home Construction Site at 3837 Russell on Thursday, May 18, 10 a.m.
